Places to eat

Here are some reviews of restaurants and other places to eat that have been visited recently. I hope they are useful but it’s always worth checking accessibility with the venue in case things have changed or you need more information than we’ve given!

The Balloon Tree, Gate Helmsley, near York

Café and farm shop with level entrance. Good food and helpful staff. Lots of Blue Badge parking but they fill up fast!

Mamma Mia’s, Gillygate, York

Great Italian food, accessible if you can cope with fairly high thresholds, accessible loo but restaurant a bit crowded for easy manoeuvring. No parking but cars can mount pavement to drop-off outside.

Middlethorpe Hall, York

Only accessible via temporary ramps and loos are in basement – lift probably too small for wheelchairs or scooters. Staff very helpful and food lovely. Conference room all on one level with accessible loo.
