Things to do

Things you can do that don’t require anything but access to the Internet.

Accessing museums and galleries using Google Street View

Many museums and galleries can be accessed online using Google Street View, allowing you to see their collections from the comfort of your own home! No access issues (other than to the Internet), it’s Covid safe and you can do it even when there’s a lockdown.

Learning a language with Duolingo

This website and app is one way to learn a language. See my review for the pros and cons.

Family tree research with Ancestry.co.uk

This requires a subscription but it’s amazing how much you can find out in the 14 day free trial. They have more documents than any other genealogy site including all available census returns, births, marriages and deaths, immigration details, military records and masses more. I’ve gone back to the C17th and accessed handwritten parish documents of relatives’ baptisms, marriages and burials. Fascinating and absorbing!

Writing a book and self-publishing it on Amazon

I started writing a book when I was thirteen or fourteen and finally published it on Amazon.
